Half of the historic Vernon Center Schoolhouse serves as the local post office, and the other half is again open too visitors, both as a unique guest accommodation and event space.
The newly reopened space once housed the ‘older’ kids getting their education in the building. After the opening of the William A. Wettel union elementary school in Vernon, the space was used as a country store and dulcimer shop over the years, but has sat vacant for several years.
After a 2 year-long renovation, the big room will is now a welcoming one-bedroom accommodation with a full bathroom, kitchen and living space.
In addition to lodging, the space is available for rent by community members as an historic event space, great for meetings to cooking demonstrations. It will also host exhibitions and special events organized by the proprietors.
